Junior Tennis Ladder

Matches and Scoring

Players spin a racquet to determine who has choice of serving and receiving (standard spin rules).

A standard 10-minute warm up is in effect for all matches, unless both players agree otherwise.

Each ladder match is played using Fast 4 Scoring. Best two out of three sets to 4 games, with a tiebreaker to 5 points played at 3-3 and a super tiebreaker to 7 points, played in lieu of a 3rd set. (EXAMPLE: Player 1 defeated Player 2 by a score of 4-2, 4-1). If time for a full tiebreaker does not allow, a 1 point tiebreaker can be played to determine the winner!

All matches are played without advantages, sudden death at deuce, receivers choice of side.

If the match is not completed within the length of your booking (One Hour), whoever was leading the match gets credited for the win. Unless the court remains open after your booking and both players agree to finish the match.

Balls

Players must provide their own balls for ladder matches. Use the honour system to ensure players are taking their turn to supplying the balls.

Booking the Court

Both player’s names must be listed on the court booking. If a player is not available for a booked match with their opponent, they will forfeit the match. If a match is interrupted by rain, the players can reschedule, unless they agree to assign the win to the player who was leading.

Point System

  • At the end of each round, players are awarded 3 points for each win / 2 for a tie / 1 for a loss / and 0 for a forfeit.
  • The top player in each group moves up and the bottom player moves down to another group for the next round.
